I was absolutely in a rut with music listening for years. I’d throw on some algorithmic playlists, and almost always felt bored by the vast majority of stuff that popped up. Plus, algorithms in streaming have actually gotten worse: on Spotify, they’re essentially funnels that keep leading you down the same path.
So, we started this little club for listening to and reviewing albums. Now, personally I’m always and forever going to find a lot of music lackluster – I’ll try just about anything but the stuff that really grabs me is still in the minority. But when you’re discovering stuff together, even a bad album is part of the experience that’s worth something. Maybe you all hate it and can just vent to each other about why. Maybe someone likes it and you don’t and you can have a spirited little back-and-forth about that. Either way, there’s a new album getting picked next week for you all to try. And eventually you’re gonna land on some stuff that you really like!

i think it would be fun if you guys had a spotify account where you made weekly playlists containing all of the songs recommended in the weekly "What have you been listening to?" question. And then in the weekly question, you can share the link to the previous week's playlist :-)
for the tech people at pi.fyi: This could prob even be automated- i imagine you could scrape the links from the responses to the weekly question, then if the link leads to a valid spotify song, use the spotify API to add the song to a new playlist. And u could even set up a cron job to automatically do this on a weekly interval (but i also work at a startup and know that this would prob be at the absolute bottom of your to-do list lmao)

What I really enjoy so far with Perfectly Imperfect is its humility and presentation - I feel like these last 4-5 years platforms like Instagram, twitter (Will never call it x fuck you elon!) and even Tiktok to an extent feels like dead internet and I feel like the most important thing about being online is being as authentic to you as possible. I live by a code " to deem one as cringe is truly cringe themselves" or like the platform says perfectly imperfect :)
