- ice dives: if you find yourself ruminating or feeling impulsive or anything of that nature, fill a bowl with cold water and ice, take a deep breath, put your face in the water for 30 seconds and repeat until you feel a little calmer. It activates a dive response so all your energy goes into slowing your heart rate - soothe with smell or taste, - not for everyone but I love love love love looooove sauna’s - moving my body in anyway can help - hot yoga, spin, jumping jacks in my living room - alternative rebellion - get a tattoo! i like to ask myself “have i eaten within the last 4 hrs? have i drank enough water? am i overwhelmed by my environment?” and making sure those things are taken care of helps a lot with my own irritability that i didn’t realize was there.  taking a short 5 min. walk does a lot for ur mood, especially in the sunlight (as cliche and overused that advice is). and if i have no more energy and all else fails, i force myself to take a nap. when i can’t sleep, i do breathing exercises, and that helps me feel more calm too. i hope that helps a little bit!! i feel ur struggle and i believe in u 🫶🐛 good luck

something about this video gets me thru the times when i don’t know what to do with myself: https://youtu.be/kXAv8RXmsrc?si=sEzFGI9QbGNpDZq_ jim carrey’s advice: 1. eat everything you see 2. if you start to spiral downward, turn the television on 3. change the pattern 4. have someone you know come up and smack you in the head 5. punch yourself in the leg 6. smoke. smoke as much as you possibly can. i interpret these as: 1. just eat. nourish your body. 2. get out of your own head (tv is great, i use video games for this) 3. change. the. pattern. 4. and 5. stim!! and/or release your emotions! (don’t actually cause harm to yourself or others) 6. allow yourself to use whatever coping tools you have (if you already smoke, smoke. if you don’t, don’t start.) idk how else to explain it, but for me, it works. hope this helps 🩷

Almost a year ago I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for the second time. I was stuck in a cycle of emergency room visits, being referred to different services and attending crisis centres. I felt so hopeless but I decided that I would give recovery one last shot and I knew it would need to be 1000000%. My life has changed so much in the last year. Things still feel so hard sometimes but I’m managing. I dont feel so ashamed anymore and I’m making plans for the future again. I’m so grateful and happy I decided to get better. This feels a bit self serving but I’m proud of myself. Something happened yesterday that would have sent me over the edge, but I’m coping. It still hurts a lot but I’m not hurting myself. It’s been nice to reflect on it today.
